VFA Alumni Association Board (VFAAAB)
PURPOSE
The VFA Alumni Board (VFAAAB) exists to serve, engage, and elevate the Alumni community and, by extension, Venture For America and active Fellow communities.
THE GOALS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF VFAAAB MEMBERS ARE TO:
Provide strategic leadership in the formation and execution of a national Alumni engagement strategy
Strengthen the Alumni network
Establish, grow, and maintain the Venture For America Alumni Brand
Promote opportunities for Alumni to engage in VFA
Cultivate relationships with existing Alumni
Maintain a pulse on Alumni community and experience
Lead Alumni Reunion
Serve as thought-partners for Fellowship initiatives
Support the Talent team’s recruitment and selection strategy by helping increasing referrals, engaging volunteers, and serving as ambassadors by spreading the word with their networks
Support the Company Partnership team’s efforts toward bringing new Company Partners and Alumni onto the Connect platform
Support the Development team in their strategy to define an annual fund and increase Alumni giving
Execute on KPIs created in collaboration with the Director of Alumni Experience
VFAAAB MEMBERS
The Board consists of the following members:
One Board Chair – Akhil Aniff ‘18 Columbus
Two Alumni Reunion Chairs: Sarah Smith ‘19 Detroit and Alex Summers ‘19 Pittsburgh
One Alumni Brand Chair: Tiffany Yau ‘20 Philadelphia
Two Alumni Engagement Chairs: Venezia Leone ‘21 Charlotte and Anand Marcherla ‘18 Baltimore
One VFA Team Liaison Chair: Julia Kortberg ‘16 Detroit
Board Chair is primarily responsible for leading VFAAAB meetings, designing and executing on VFAAAB KPIs, leading the search for open VFAAAB positions, and maintaining close communication with the Director of Alumni Experience.
Alumni Reunion Chairs are primarily responsible for planning and executing Alumni Reunion on an annual basis, as well supporting broader VFAAAB objectives.
Alumni Brand Chairs are primarily responsible for working with the Marketing team to elevate the Alumni brand, promote initiatives, capture Alumni stories to highlight across our existing channels, and support broader VFAAAB objectives.
Alumni Engagement Chairs are primarily responsible for creating clear opportunities for meaningful engagement with the Alumni community (founder events, local meetups, webinars, speaker series, etc.) and supporting broader VFAAAB objectives.
Director of Alumni Experience serves as the “liaison board member” and is responsible for communicating key VFA initiatives with the Alumni Board, as well as setting the vision of Alumni engagement strategy in collaboration with VFAAAB.
Terms of Office: each new VFAAAB member is expected to serve for a minimum of 12 months. Terms start on January 1 of the new calendar year and end December 31 of the same calendar year.
